Bennie Jean Leatherman's Obituary
Bennie Jean Leatherman (Jeannie)Jeannie was the first born child of Alva Dale Tilley and Virginia Byers-Tilley. Born on October 11th 1946 in Bristow Oklahoma. She with her sister Lyn and Brother David grew up in Bowden OK outside of Sapulpa. Where they attended school until the 8th grade, then they were bused to Sapulpa High School home of the Chieftains, where she graduated. Jeannine never hesitated to tell anyone she was a Sapulpa Chieftain. She married LeRoy Leatherman in 1972. They had two children Scott Leatherman and Crystal Leatherman, Jeannie had a daughter from a previous marriage Shelly Baker. Jeannie was an employee of what was then Bartlett Collins Glass which later became Indiana Glass. Where she worked for 32 years, when the glass plant moved out of state Jeannie went to work for Tulsa Public Schools in the cafeteria, where she fell and broke her hip witch forced her into retirement. Jeannie and LeRoy were married 42 years when LeRoy passed in June of 2013. Jeannie move from their home in Garden City to a retirement home in Sand Springs Oklahoma where she lived until her health began to fail. At that time she moved in with her sister Lyn to their childhood home. Jeannie Leatherman went to be with the Lord on December 24th, 2015.
