Benny Lee Himes' Obituary
Benny Lee Himes, age 90 passed away peacefully in Grove, OK. Benny was born April 28, 1932, in Enid, Ok to Grover & Mary (Meyers) Himes. He married his late wife, Billie Robinson on July 22nd, 1949. Benny leaves his loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories.
He received his diploma from Enid High School July 31,1953. He received his bachelor’s degree
in General Studies May 1969. Benny was a veteran of the US Army and served 28 years in the Army artillery as a pilot, serving during the Vietnam & Korean war. He received multiple medals & commendations including a purple heart and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel on Oct 31, 1975.
He married Patsy (Silver) Hart on Dec 16, 1998, and they spent their time together living life to the fullest. They resided in both Naples, Florida & Tulsa, Oklahoma and spent a lot of time taking cruises & enjoyed the ocean life. He enjoyed fishing, gardening & feeding/watching the birds. They eventually made their home in Grove, Oklahoma. He was the last living of 10 children.
He is survived by many family members including his wife: Patsy Himes; two daughters: Cheryl Burgess of Olgsmar, FL & Karen Himes of Naples, FL and seven grandkids, eight great-grandkids, and six great-great grandkids.
He will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
At this time, funeral services for Mr. Benny Himes are scheduled for 12:30 PM, Friday, January 13th at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
