Bernice Kotch's Obituary
Bernice Kotch was born May 20, 1942 in Houston, Texas. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E Kotch Jr.; parents Kie and Hedwig Zabawa and brother Sammy Zabawa. She is survived by her daughter Lori Callison and son-in-law Jeff; son Bradley Kotch and daughter-in-law Gennica Petty; sister Bernadine Moore; brothers-in-law Thomas, William, and Larry Kotch; sister-in-law Jean Knapik and husband Al; Janet Wachel and husband Thadeus; 4 grandchildren Zach & Tara Callison, Christopher Callison, Brittany Callison and Reyna Kotch; 3 great grandchildren Finley and Rhett Callison; Tucker Callison; numerous beloved cousins, nephews and nieces. Bernice married Bobby Kotch in November of 1961 in Bremond Texas. She worked in banking for numerous years supporting her husband and his desire to attend medical school in Kansas City Missouri. Bernice also served as the office manager for Bob’s practice in Woodland Park Colorado and in College Station, Texas. Bernice loved to sew and made many of Lori’s prom dresses and homecoming gowns. She enjoyed her flower garden and always had a wide variety of flowers. She could always coax the most stubborn plant to bloom in glory. Bernice was an avid photographer as evidenced by all the photo albums and pictures. She was very meticulous in keeping all the family data. Bernice loved to shop. The family always teased her about her coupons and buy one get one free sales. She loved fashion and was always mailing a box full of things to a family member. Her grandchildren never went without a new outfit provided by grandma. Bob always said, “she hasn’t purchased anything in the last 35 years that wasn’t on sale.” Bernice loved Colorado. She enjoyed the yearly trip she and Bob took to visit with Brad, Gennica and Reyna in Colorado. They visited Vail, Breckenridge, Aspen and Denver. Mass and interment will be at St Mary’s Catholic Church 715 N Main Street Bremond, Texas 76629 on January 6, 2018 at 11:00 am.
