Bernice Fay Layson's Obituary
Bernice Fay Layson was born to Fred & Charlotte King on June 11, 1945, in Portland, Oregon. She was raised in the Catholic Church. She converted to the Lutheran Church when she married David Scott Layson Sr. on November 16, 1976, in Vancouver, Washington. They have 6 children between them.
Bernice was known for being a kind and loving person. She made friends easily and maintained her friendship for decades. She was a loving mother & wife. She was known as “Mom” to many of her children’s friends. Bernice loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family with her whole heart. To her family wasn’t just blood relations; if she loved you and considered you family then you were her family. No questions asked and no expectations except to be loved in return. She was loved by many.
Bernice loved to read. She instilled this love in her children and grandchildren. Her favorite book was her Bible, which she read daily.
She liked to bowl, loved to go swimming, dancing, enjoyed knitting and doing cross stitch. She frequently volunteered to work Octoberfest and Mayfest with the German American Society of Tulsa. She loved music of all kinds, but Nat King Cole was her all-time favorite singer.
Bernice went to her heavenly home on October 4, 2021, at 7:30 pm. She was at home with her loving husband. David and her daughters, Angela and Starla. She joined her parents; Fred and Charlotte; her brothers; George and Bill; her sisters; Edna, Freida and Rachel; her daughter; Rachel; her stepson; Scott (David Jr.}; and her grandson; Christopher.
Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband; David Layson Sr. Her devoted children: Charlotte Jones, DeAnna Layson, DeWaine Layson, Starla Dollarhide and Angela Layson-Hall all of whom she was very proud of. She referred to her grandchildren as her “Sunshine”; Andrew Layson, Nikita Mayo, Amber Westbrook, Jeffery Hinshaw, Amanda
Murry, Megan Hall, Cori Ramirez, Taylor Chandler, Bre’Ana Driver, Bennie Driver Jr., Shala Driver, Phelix Driver and Macie Layson. The “Lights” of her life were her 19 great grandchildren whom she absolutely adored. Her sisters; Louise and Madelene, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, family and extended family.
Bernice was loved and will be missed by all. They will especially miss her daily text messages of love and encouragement. We all will cherish our memories of her unfailing love and her kind words.
The Celebration of Life will be on October 30, 2021, at 2:00 pm at.

Bernice asked that the dress be casual and in her favorite colors of purple or orange. She also asked that instead of sending flowers that people please send a plant or flowering plant as flowers die and we are celebrating her life not mourning her death. There will be a luncheon to follow and plenty of stories to be shared.
