Bessie Reon Williams' Obituary
Williams, Bessie Reon, 84, departed this life Monday, July 8, 2013. She was born to Francis Laird Thomason and Margaret 'Maggie' Akins Thomason on December 28, 1928 in Oologah, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Donald P. Williams, on April 20, 1946. This marriage was blessed with the birth of four children: Ronald Williams (Wichita, Kansas), Dwight Williams (Tulsa, Oklahoma), Evelyn Williams Roney (Wichita, Kansas), and Mark Williams (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma); 12 grandchildren-Heather Purk, Brian Williams, Amy Williams, Marianne Tibbits, Amber Anderson, Jonathan Williams, Whitney Phillips, Matthew Williams, Walter (Trey) Roney III, Trevor Roney, Pryce Williams, Trenton Williams, and 15 great- grandchildren. She was the ultimate pastor's wife as she directed many vocal and English hand-bell choirs, supported women's, teen and children's groups in the many Methodist churches throughout Oklahoma: Beggs, Oklahoma, Owasso, Oklahoma, Tulsa Hagler Memorial UMC, Tulsa St. Luke's UMC, Enid Trinity UMC, Sallisaw First UMC, Tulsa Trinity UMC, Oklahoma City St. Mark's UMC, Tulsa Aldersgate UMC, and Locust Grove UMC. Her love of music was developed at an early age while accompanying her father and family members in spreading the Gospel through song in the State of Oklahoma. She taught piano and voice lessons through her 80th year in her Tulsa retirement residence. She was preceded in death by her husband (July of 2009), father, mother, sisters Etta Mae Burdick and Inamel Thomason-Glance, and brother Bart Thomason. She is survived by sisters Ruby Garrison and Peggy Douglass, and brothers Robert Thomason and Donald Thomason. Services will be held Monday, July 15, 2:00 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church Chapel, 6700 S. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK. Visitation will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 S 129th E Ave., Broken Arrow, OK from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family present from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Memorials should be made to the National Alzheimer's Foundation.
