Betty Lee Armstrong's Obituary
Betty Lee Armstrong, born August 20, 1926, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at the remarkable age of 99. A woman of spirit, strength, and unmistakable spunk, Betty lived her life exactly the way she wanted—boldly, independently, and unapologetically herself.
Betty was an avid reader, proudly keeping more than a hundred books on her Kindle at any given time. She devoured stories the way she embraced life: with curiosity, passion, and a sharp mind that never dulled. Those who knew her will remember her outspoken nature, her quick wit, and her insistence on doing things her way—a trait that made her unforgettable.
She spent many years working in retail, taking great pride in her time at TG&Y and Woolworths. Betty had a strong work ethic and a love for people, making her a natural fit in a bustling store environment where she built friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime.
One of Betty’s greatest joys was spending time outdoors with her beloved husband. Together, they traveled the country in their RV, fishing poles always within reach. They especially cherished their time in Texas, where they spent six months out of every year casting lines, enjoying the sunshine, and savoring the peaceful rhythm of the water.
Creativity flowed through Betty’s hands. She was wonderfully crafty—designing native jewelry, shaping small pottery animals, and crocheting beautiful blankets that warmed both homes and hearts. Her creations were more than hobbies; they were expressions of love, patience, and the joy she found in making things that lasted.
Betty lived a long, full life marked by adventure, humor, and a fierce independence that inspired everyone around her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved her.
She is reunited with her parents, Joel and Lou Holt, and her brothers, Bob and Jim Holt.
She is survived by her son, Gary, and wife Beulah Armstrong; her granddaughter Misty, and husband, Sandy McCarty; great-grandchildren Hannah Arning, Madelynn Arning, and Braylen McCarty; sister-in-law Sandy Holt; and Nephew Brett Holt, as well as a host of other family and friends who will forever miss and love her.
