Betty May Brown Allensworth's Obituary
Betty May Brown Allensworth was born on May 11, 1927 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Cabell and Geneva Moseley. She grew up in Lenapah, Oklahoma. From an early age Betty showed her zest for life and dynamic personality. She worked hard but was always ready for a new adventure. As an adult she was one of the top producing sales agents for John Hausam Realtors in Tulsa, was partner in NBC Custom Home Builders and raised four ornery kids. Retirement didn't suit Betty very well. After being a sales agent she continued to work in real estate as well as several secretarial positions. The last ten years of her life she was the 'friendly white- haired lady' working in the jewelry department at Wal-Mart in Vinita, Ok. Throughout her life Betty was a talented and accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful clothing for her and family. Unquestionably her talent was most evident in her amazing quilts. Her eye for colors and designs, her attention to detail and her masterful sewing always made her quilts stand out, winning honors at many fairs and shows. Betty's personality and creativity will live on through them. She was very active in numerous local and state quilting guilds so was able to share her special talents with many. Betty was an active member of the Ketchum United Methodist Church in Ketchum, Oklahoma. She served in any way asked of her and in many ways she created herself. She sang in the choir, volunteered for VBS, held leadership roles in the UMW and created beautiful banners that hang throughout the church. She loved her church family and survived difficulties in life because of them and her faith in God. Betty loved people and people loved her. She never met a stranger. She will be remembered for her kind words and thoughtful gestures. She loved to entertain and hosted many luncheons, dinners and parties. She loved to laugh and have fun and shared that energy everywhere she was. Of the many accomplishments in her life, Betty was most proud of her children: Ted and Kathy Holman, Kaye and Les Hill, Kim Holman, and Tracy Grayson and of her grandchildren: Jeff Holman, Taylor Holman, Kali Holman, Emily Grayson and JohnPaul Grayson. Betty's earthly adventures came to and end on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. She passed the way most people hope for- at home, surrounded by people she loved. It is difficult to capture the vitality, intelligence, and beauty that was Betty in a few short paragraphs. She touched so many and will be enormously missed. Services will be held at Ketchum United Methodist Church in Ketchum, Oklahoma at 10:00 am on Tuesday August 2nd and graveside at 2:00pm at Floral Haven Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Ketchum United Methodist Church, 374 W. Ealum Ave, Ketchum, Ok 74349
