Betty Jean Clarke's Obituary
Betty Jean Clarke, age 96, passed peacefully from this life on January 23, 2023, in Tulsa, OK. She was born Betty Jean Tally, in Urich, MO to George Alec Tally and Eva K Tally Fleming. As a child, she moved with her family to the Tulsa, OK area. Betty married Henry B. Clarke, Jr in 1945 and they made their permanent home in Tulsa.
As a wife and mother of five, she was content to be a homemaker. She took in work as a seamstress for the public while raising her family and also had an interest in painting. She became quite accomplished in watercolor and oils. Much of her work hangs in the homes of her children and dear friends. As a late bloomer and entrepreneur, she took an interest in real estate at age 56. She became a realtor soon thereafter and worked at Century 21/Jim Kelly and Patterson Realty in Tulsa for nearly 30 years combined. She also owned and rented property of her own. Her career in real estate rewarded her richly with many life-long friends. After she retired, she acquired her Chihuahua puppy named “Pablo”. He was her constant companion and the new “man of the house” for many wonderful years.
Betty had a creative and endearing personality, she often used wit, common sense, and endless expressions to convey her true thoughts on ANY subject. She will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, two beloved sisters, Anna Mae Caldwell and Pauline Jennings, her Husband of 32 years, Henry Bass Clarke, Jr., her infant daughter Dianne Clarke, and treasured friend and partner, Dr. J Dal Baker.
Betty leaves behind her 5 children: Son Kent Clarke and wife Michelle, his children Kendall Hotz, Wayne Clarke (deceased),and Drake Clarke, and their families. Daughter Marcia Fowler and husband Geary, their children Jamie Pestel and Brian Fowler, and their families. Daughter Mary Beasley and husband Ron, their children Vince Barton and Adam Barton and their families. Daughter Julie Bland and husband Mike, their children Cassie Williamson and Kyle Bland, and their families. Daughter Debbie Lyon and husband Kenn, their children Gabriel Lyon, Julie Lyon, Mathew Lyon, and their families.
A “Celebration of Life” is planned for Friday, February 24th, 2023. The family will send out more details once arrangements are finalized.
