Betty Flippo's Obituary
Betty Marie Flippo, 94 of Claremore, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, February 21, 2019 in Claremore, Oklahoma with her loving family by her side. She was born June 1, 1924 in Ada, Oklahoma to her parents, I. Walker and Maude Dessie Rose Tilley. She married the love of her life, Robert Flippo on December 18, 1941 and they shared over 63 beautiful years together before his passing in 2004.Betty was the fairy tale grandmother that you read about in stories, she baked, she sewed, she embroidered, she made your childhood favorites when you would ask. She would read you your favorite stories and take care of you when you were sick. Her and grandpa’s love story was something you only see in movies or read about in romance novels, running away together and getting married as teenagers, sweethearts through life and into death. She was just as God made her to be, with a fiery spirit, a deep devotion to the lord, and love for her family. Most people may have a crazy story or five to say about her and that’s just who she was. Through pies, pillowcases, pot holders, skirts, or a stern word she had ways of showing her love, even though sometimes that message could be hard to interpret.Betty is survived by two sons, Robert James Flippo and wife Shar of Kyle, Texas and Donald Allen Flippo and wife Angie of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Ingersoll, Karen Willhoite, Lori Jackson, Nathan Willhoite, Aaron Flippo, Elizabeth Willis, Erika Flippo, Brent Ellison, Lela Flippo, Janell Flippo, Judy Gill, Jennifer Morrison, and Jamie Duff; eleven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Maude Tilley; her husband, Robert Flippo; daughter, Judy Bernard; son, James Flippo; brothers Jimmy, Jack, Robert and Dewey and sisters, Murryle, Edith, Evelyn, Edna and Wanda. We will miss her dearly and our time we had with her was precious. We take comfort in the fact that she has gone home to be with the lord and her dearly departed loved ones, especially her sweetheart. May she rest in peace and grandpa too, because I’m sure he’s hearing all about it right now.Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Wendell Willhoite and Deacon Michael Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
