Betty Rose Hicks' Obituary
Betty Rose Hicks, 95, of Jenks, Oklahoma died July 17, 2020 in Jenks. Born November 5, 1924 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Lura Dean and Elizabeth Gordon.
Betty Rose was preceded in death by:
· Husband: Edwin Lavern Hicks
· Parents: Lura Dean and Elizabeth Gordon
· Siblings: Marie Neafus, Pansy Cohea, and Helen Denton
Betty Rose is survived by:
· Children: George Edwin Hicks and Sharon, Judy Marie Palmer and husband Ron, Sandra Kay King, Billy Dwain Hicks and wife Mary, and Larry Marvin Hicks and Ava
· Grandchildren: Keli Miller and husband Jeff, Jacob Hicks and Teresa, Clint Hicks and wife Sarah, and Kimberly Stewart
· Great Grandchildren: Madeline Miller, Natalie Miller, Reagan Nesmith and Riley Stewart
· A host of other friends and family that will miss her dearly
A graduate of Jenks High School, Betty played basketball for three years. During her senior year, she was the center forward and the “star” of the team. She lettered all three years as a Jenks Trojanette. She played the role of mother in the play “Little Women” and sang in the Glee Club.
After high school, she worked as a dental assistant, then worked at Phillips Petroleum for several years. She then helped Ed start Blue Chip Chemical Company where they worked together for 23 years. After Blue Chip closed, she and Ed helped son Larry in his automotive garage. Betty and Ed moved to Colorado for a few years to enjoy the mountains. While there, she worked at a restaurant as a “Hostess with the Mostest”.
Betty loved going to church. She was a member of Beaver Street Baptist Church in Jenks for several years.
Betty had several hobbies during the years. She enjoyed crafts of various kinds and also liked gardening, sewing, cooking and homemaking. She loved to dress up in her pretty clothes and jewelry. Christmas time was special to her as she decorated her house into a winter wonderland.

Family invites friends and loved ones to a visitation on Tuesday July 21, 2020 from 4PM-7PM. The funeral service for Betty Rose will be private for family only the following day.
