Betty Louise Hutchens' Obituary
Betty Louise Hutchens, affectionately known as Louise, went to be with our Lord Jesus on May 4, 2024, at the age of 82 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Born on November 11, 1941, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the beloved daughter of Sam and Gladys Barham.
Louise’s life was a tapestry of love, family, and creativity. After graduating from Will Rogers High School, she embarked on a journey that would shape her into an extraordinary woman. Louise’s love story began when she married Gilford Pat Hutchens, fondly called Pat, on May 28, 1960. Their union blossomed into a beautiful family, with three sons and a daughter.
Louise had an innate passion for arts and crafts. She reveled in creating and maintaining floral arrangements, infusing beauty into every corner of her life. Her artistic flair extended beyond flowers; she adorned her church, even the pastor’s office, with her creative touch. Louise’s appreciation for art knew no bounds, and her home reflected her vibrant spirit.
Louise’s devotion to her family was unwavering. She cherished her role as a wife, standing by Pat’s side and working as a secretary for Continental Oil Company in Kansas City she helped Pat through four years of dental school. In turn, Pat supported her dreams, allowing her to explore her interests and passions. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories.
Louise’s greatest joy was being a stay-at-home mother. She poured her heart into raising her children, nurturing them with love, wisdom, and kindness. Her home was a haven—a place where creativity flourished, and family bonds grew stronger. Louise’s legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, who carry forward her warmth and compassion. Pat considered her to be a Proverbs 31 woman.
Louise trusted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was a faithful member of Eastwood Baptist Church for many years. She was a true servant to those in need. She had the gift of hospitality and often made her home a place to serve and minister to others.
Louise’s exemplified grace, resilience, and the power of love. Louise’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents Sam and Gladys Barham; sister Linda Kelly.
She is survived by her husband Pat Hutchens; children Lori Johnson and her husband Eric, Cary Hutchens, Brett Hutchens and his wife Joy, and John Hutchens; grandchildren Chris Johnson, Bryan Johnson, Katie Louise Thompson, Braden Hutchens, Gage Hutchens, and Jaedyn Hutchens, along with other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 12:30PM at Floral Havens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ralph Speas and Pastor Gordon Small. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
