Betty "Jane" Johnson's Obituary
Betty “Jane” Johnson (ne՛e Ward) of Broken Arrow died on Monday, January 1, 2024, at 1:06 PM surrounded by her husband and two sons. She was eighty years old. Born on June 7, 1943, in Detroit, MI, Jane attended elementary school in Pittsburg, KS, and then attended high school in Broken Arrow, graduating in 1961. She then enrolled in Northeastern State in Tahlequah, OK, in pursuit of a microbiology
degree. While there, she met her husband, and the two were married in 1962. Jane held several positions with various Tulsa companies throughout her lifetime, her last being an administrative assistant for a vice president of the Bank of Oklahoma. She also traveled extensively with trips to numerous countries, including Germany, France, Italy, and Russia. From 1970-1972, she and her family lived in Bangkok, Thailand, with her husband on assignment from Oklahoma State University.
Jane loved fishing with her husband, reading, playing poker, and enjoying time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Ralph Jefferson Johnson; her two sons, Phillip Johnson and Jay Johnson; her two daughters-in-law, Kelly Johnson and Lindsay Johnson (respectively); her grandchildren, Bethany Mercer, Andrew Johnson, Aidan Johnson, Maryjane Johnson, Charlotte Johnson, Ross Johnson, and Wyatt Johnson; and her great-grandchildren, Samuel “Sammy” Mercer and Theodore “Teddy” Mercer. Jane is also survived by her sister, Judy Raney; her brother-in-law, Dean Raney; and her two nieces, Shannon Raney and Laresa Raney.
Family says if anyone doesn't want to send flowers but would like to donate in Jane's name and honor, they can donate to the ASPCA.
Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
