Betty Ruth McCollum's Obituary
Betty Ruth McCollum, a resident of Broken Arrow, passed away January 8, 2019 at the age of 80. She was born October 27, 1938 to Joe McCollum and Irene (Redman) McCollum in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She served in the United States Air Force.Betty was an avid reader who loved to read books and novels. She was what you might call a “speed reader.” Her high school teachers were amazed at her reading ability. She loved to discuss politics, for which she always had a strong opinion. And that stern look in her eyes said that she meant business. But she also had a beautiful laugh. Her nieces were very special to her. She did 3 years of education to be a nurse. She became a Medivac Nurse in the Vietnam transporting wounded soldiers in the Medivac plan from Vietnam to Japan. She served in the military 12 years for which we were so proud of her.Survivors include her siblings, Bobby, Billy, Shelby, Cornell, Ray, Beulah, Willis and Guy McCollum and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.Viewing will be held Wednesday, January 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Floral Haven Memorial Garden in Broken Arrow.Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force.
