Betty Mullins' Obituary
Betty Mullins, a beloved daughter, mother, and dedicated member of the community, passed away on July 23, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the loving daughter of Clem and Nina Carroll and touched the lives of many with her kind and caring nature.
Betty's vibrant spirit and love for life were evident from a young age. She had a passion for sports and excelled in basketball, track and cheerleading during her youth. Her energy and enthusiasm extended to the dance floor, where she found joy in expressing herself through movement.
A woman of faith, Betty was a devout Christian whose beliefs guided her actions and interactions with others.
A dedicated mother, Betty's love for her children was unwavering. She instilled values of hard work, discipline, and integrity in her kids, always striving to provide them with the guidance and support they needed to succeed.
She faithfully attended ball games, school concerts, school plays and spelling bees whenever she could. On Valentine’s day the kids got heart-shaped boxes of candy to show her love.
Known for her strong work ethic, Betty approached every task with determination and diligence. Her commitment to excellence was reflected in everything she did, inspiring those around her to do the same.
Among her unique disciplinary methods was the practice of having her children write lines such as "I will never…" a thousand times or "Mow the lawn with scissors" as a means of teaching important lessons and fostering accountability.
Nearly every parent has used the phrase “I’m going to count to 3…”
And she was no exception. Her children knew better than to wait until 3.
They learned other disciplinary methods, such as getting your mouth washed out with a bar of soap for swearing or smoking. And if she called you by your first AND middle name, you knew you were in big trouble!
Her kids also saw her fun side, like when she would take them out for Putt-putt golf, rides at Bell’s Amusement Park or adventure at Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve. There were many trips to Mohawk Park to see the animals at the zoo. And, if they were lucky, a picnic with hotdogs and roasted marshmallows over a fire after dark.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and 3 siblings.
Betty is survived by her son Mark Mullins & wife Judy; daughter Rhonda & husband Russell Thomas;
Daughter Suzi Barnes;
Her Grandchildren Yasmin Barnes, Deanna Dickey, Jennifer Mullins, and Mariah Anthony, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Betty Mullins will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 12:30
