Betty Jean Powers' Obituary
Betty Barbour Powers Wilson passed away on Oct 23, 2024, at the age of 98 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Betty was born on October 4, 1926, at Kellerton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Gilmore and Theola Bear Barbour. After she graduated from high school at Beaconsfield, Iowa, she attended business school eventually working for the state of Iowa Pharmacy Department. On June 3, 1945, Betty was united in marriage to Ralph E. Powers. One daughter, Vicki, was born to this union. They resided at Kellerton, Iowa, until 1947. They then moved to Des Moines, Iowa, for years; Latimer, Iowa for 7 years; Paola, Kansas, for 7 years; and in 1968 to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Betty was employed by Amerada Hess Oil Company for 18 years as the executive secretary to the vice-president. After retirement she and her husband lived in Tulsa and at Lake Tenkiller. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph of 48 years, her husband Roger Wilson of 25 years, and her grandson Joshua Haefele. She loved spending time with her daughter Vicki J. Haefele and her husband Warren Howard, granddaughter Andrea Schafer and husband R.J., and her great grandson Tate Schafer. She spent many hours rocking babies at the Margaret Hudson home for unwed mothers, playing bridge and reading. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Floral Haven on November 6, 2024.
