Betty Sue Richards' Obituary
Betty Sue Richards, 81, of Catoosa, passed away on April 23rd from natural causes. The daughter of Lillian (Rogers) and Clyde Taylor, she was born in Muskogee, OK on September the 13th of 1941. She was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation.
She was a caretaker in every way: as a mother to her six children, as an active community member and volunteer for the Johnson O’Malley Program in Catoosa Public Schools, and as a pediatric nurse at St. John’s Hospital for over 30 years. She took great pride in her work and poured love into everything she did. She will be remembered for her selfless service to all and her remarkable storytelling.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Mikel Richards, Sr., and her siblngs, Dorothy Pence Troy Taylor, Roy Taylor, Rex Taylor, James Humphrey, Arthur Humphrey, Janie Holzheimer, Junior Taylor, as well as her parents.
She is survived by her six children: Mikel, Jim (Lisa), Darren (Guerin), Kim (Rick), Bridgett (Larry), and Chris as well as her sister, Shirley Carpenter (Don), twenty-nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. on May 20th, 2023 at the Floral Haven Chapel (6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012), followed by graveside service and fellowship at the Family Center.
