Betty Russell's Obituary
Betty Russell, 93 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in a Tulsa hospital with family by her side. She was born October 16, 1924 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, a daughter of Andrew Jackson Wallace, Sr. and Nora Nile Layton Wallace.Betty had been a member of Eastland Assembly of God and was a member of the choir. She loved to read and made reading her bible and the newspaper a daily pleasure. She loved to read non-fiction books until her eyesight began to fail her. Betty was quite a cook and baker, one family holiday memory was she made 17 homemade pies from A to Z including a much talked about pineapple pie. Towards the end of her life she brought a buttermilk pound cake and coconut cream pie to family gatherings. She started sewing when her feet could reach the pedal and enjoyed sewing for family and friends from bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, satin pillow cases, and baby blankets to barbie doll clothes.Betty is survived by two daughters, Tamara Eastland and husband Sherman of Amarillo, Texas and Lynda Russell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one grandson Brandon Goswick of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, David Wallace and wife Ann of Talala, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Shirley Wolf and husband Bill of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Carolyn Hastings and husband Kenneth of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Nora Wallace; her husband, O. U. Russell; two brothers, Andrew Jackson Wallace, Jr. and Bob Wallace; and two sisters, Georgia Holbrook and Evelyn Wallace.There are no scheduled services planned.
