Betty Jean Thomas' Obituary
Betty Jean Thomas, 86, was born June 8, 1925 to Matilda and Ray Williams in Linn Grove, IA. She married Glenn Thomas in 1941 and was his partner in farming for almost two decades until they began their journey to Tulsa, OK via Staunton, VA and Cushing OK. She found a vocation in sales as a sales associate at Sears but most enjoyed practicing her avocation, cooking. She shared her love of cooking through her work in school lunch programs in Iowa, Virginia and Oklahoma. All who knew her enjoyed her pies. She died on September 14, 2011. Her husband, Glenn Thomas, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Joan Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Johnigan Thomas and Donald Ellwood, grandson and family, Matt and Kate Thomas, as well as their dear children Ben and Tyler; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Bill Mathiesen and brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Edith Williams. The family thanks the staff of The Broadmoor for their loving care. A memorial service will be held in Tulsa, Saturday, September 24, 2011, 1 p.m. at Will Rogers United Methodist Church, 1138 S. Yale.
