Beverly Ann Carter's Obituary
It is with deeply heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly Ann (Whiten) Carter, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Beverly was born on October 26, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to parents John H. Whiten and Elsie Grace (Norton) Whiten, and passed peacefully at her home in Catoosa, Oklahoma, on January 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Her vibrant spirit, creativity, and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
Beverly graduated from Webster High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and always cherished her roots in the community. She was one of four children and grew up alongside her siblings, Francis Wilson, Carol Whiten, and Johnny Whiten.
In 1979, Beverly met her best friend and the love of her life, Harvey Carter, at square dancing lessons. Their shared joy blossomed into a beautiful partnership, and they were married on November 2, 1981. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories until Harvey’s passing on April 26, 2014. Beverly later found companionship with her dear friend, Tom, whose presence brought much comfort and happiness in her later years.
Beverly’s love for nature and her creative talents were central to her life. She found joy in gardening, often growing, and canning fresh vegetables, and spent hours watching and feeding birds. She shared her artistic talents with her family, crafting beautiful dolls, potholders, and jewelry—glow-in-the-dark earrings being a special favorite among her grandchildren. Her passion for creativity extended to beadwork, knitting, and intricate diamond art projects, each piece reflecting her vibrant spirit.
Beverly is preceded in death by her father, John H. Whiten her mother, Elsie Grace (Norton) Whiten, and her husband of nearly 33 years, Harvey Carter.
Beverly was deeply proud of her family. She is survived by her two sons, sister, 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family members that will forever cherish her memory.
Beverly’s life was a testament to kindness and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity that will continue to inspire her family and friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
