Bill D. Johnson was born in Kingman, KS, July 21, 1932. He died of a heart attack at Hillcrest Hospital on July 22, 2017, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 85.Bill is preceded in death by his father, Edward Johnson, mother, Lucille Johnson, brother, Walter Johnson, and sister, LaVonna Maple.Bill is survived by his wife, Pat Johnson and son, Michael Johnson both of Tulsa.At a young age, Bill’s family moved to Gentry, AR. While in school Bill enjoyed playing baseball and football. After completing the 9th grade he quit school to work for his father on their farm. He planted and harvested various crops and operated farm machinery involving the irrigation and fertilization of crops.He enlisted in the Army in 1950, serving in the Korean War. He was honored with several medals including: Combat Infantryman Badge, 4 Bronze Service Stars, UN Service Medal, Silver Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, and Distinguished Unit Citation. He was honorable discharged as a Sergeant in 1953.He met Patsy Stevens at Monkey Island, on Grand Lake. They were married September 11, 1954. Bill and Pat resided in Tulsa, where he worked for Interstate Tool and Die. In November of 1960, their son Michael Steve was born. Bill went to work for Zebco from which he retired as Sr. Vice President of Manufacturing.Bill was a master craftsman of wood, creating many types of furniture. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical. During his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Bill enjoyed planting flower and vegetable gardens. He was often found on his front porch, visiting with his neighbors.Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow.Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army.
