Bill Charles O'Donnell's Obituary
Billy Charles O’Donnell was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma, May 3, 1922. To William Charles O’Donnell and Cora Robinson O’Donnell. He received his promotion into Heaven on September 5, 2016. He lived in the Wilburton area till the family moved to Wewoka Oklahoma in 1927. Bill graduated Wewoka High School in 1940 and in the fall of 1940 entered the Chillicothe, Missouri Business School in Chillicothe, Missouri. He finished the two year course and in fall of 1942 entered the Navy. After Boot Camp in San Diego, Calif, he was sent to the South Pacific and to the staff of Admiral William F. Halsey on the island of New Caledonia. He was there all of 1942. While there an application for the Navy V-12 program came through and Bill applied for the College course. He was sent to Dartmouth University in Hanover, N.H. and spent two semesters. Was transferred to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bill spent 5 semesters there studying Engineering, a course comparable to the Naval Academy. He was discharged after he had attained the rank of Lt. J.G in Navy ROTC. He returned to the University of Oklahoma and in the spring of 1947 graduated with a degree in Geological Engineering. Bill worked for Midstates Oil Company for 5 years when in the spring of 1955 became an Independent Consulting Geologist. Bill and Elizabeth (Libby) Stowell were married June 13, 1958 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. February 2, 1960 William Charles O’Donnell was born and on January 28, 1962 Richard Alan O’Donnell was born. Bill had a long career working in the Oil Patch, specializing in the Arbuckle formation in Osage County. He was preceded in death by his parents, His brother, Dee Ray O’Donnell, Sisters, Evelyn O’Donnell Luther, and Rita O’Donnell Northcott. He is survived by his wife, Libby and sons, Charles, wife Karen and Daughter Carly and son Trent. Son Alan, wife Meg, Daughters Devin Manning (Brady) , Caroline and son Brett. And many relatives and loving close friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Chapel of Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 6500 South 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Tea Time and light lunch with Fellowship and remembrances will follow the Memorial Service in the Family Center.
