Billie Joe Jones' Obituary
Bill was born in Claremore, Oklahoma, on April 15, 1937, to Jonnie and LouiseWhitworth. As a young man he had many jobs around Claremore such as delivering ice andgroceries, or working at Stone's Grocery. He also worked at one of the local skating rinks andskating there, becoming proficient. During the summer after his junior year of high school, he traveled to Washington state along with several of his friends to help replant trees after a major fire. Hitchhiking with a buddy all of the way back to Claremore.
After graduating high school, he went to Hollywood, California where he worked in
Howard Hughes airport hangars, changing out light bulbs. While there he married his high
school sweetheart, Vera Jean. They returned to Claremore after a year or two where Bill found work as an upholsterer and other jobs until he joined the United States Army from January 1957 through April, 1961, where he went to radar school and on to Officers Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. In July 1, 1957, a daughter arrived, Debra Jean. A son, William Ralph, 14 followed on June 12, 1961. After his time in the Army, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard and started building
his business of Allen Electric. He became a well-known electrician and prominent entrepreneur working on prominent buildings in Tulsa such as the Mayo Hotel, the Tulsa Train Depot, and the University Tower. After fourteen years with the Oklahoma National Guard, he was discharged and devoted his time to his family and business, becoming a premier and trusted electrician in Northeast Oklahoma.
He was a dedicated family man providing many happy vacations to his family, snow and
water skiing and golfing. He and his son, William, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking together. He loved to play golf with his son and grandson on America's highest golf course. After the loss of his beloved wife, Jean, he met and married his second wife, Doris, who helped him improve his dance step. They enjoyed dancing at every opportunity along with family gatherings and traveling.
On the night on June 28, about 11:20 pm, Bill passed from this life peacefully with his
wife and family surrounding him in love. He was a proud husband for Doris; father to Debbie Jean Sanders and William Ralph Jones; grandfather to Joshua Sanders, Brandi Brown, Danielle Scott, and Madison Jones; and great grandfather to Aden Brown, Shyla May Brown, and Jeremiah Scott.
