Billie Wakefield's Obituary
Billie Jo Wakefield, 87 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, July 26, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 3, 1931 in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma to her parents, James Homer King and Iva Vera Swindle King.Billie was a 1949 Excelsior high school graduate. Previous member of Suncrest Baptist Church, Westport Baptist Church and current member of the First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow. She was also a member of the Tulsa Garden Club, Golden Triangle Garden Club, Green Thumb Garden Club, Creek Lands Chapter National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Joy Choir at First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow.Billie was an avid gardener, loved to crochet, quilt, ceramics and oil painting. She loved to bowl with longtime friend Ida. Most of all she loved to sing. She grew up singing in a trio with her dad & younger sister in the Pentecostal Church. Billie loved to travel with her husband, siblings & Friends. She was always ready to go and enjoyed taking her family on many beach & cruise vacations.Billie is survived by her five children, Sharon Champlin and her husband John of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Ron Mitchell and his wife Marsha of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jeanne Gentry and her husband Phil of Plano, Texas, Vallerie Martin and her husband Steve of Cheverly, Maryland and David Mills and his wife Tracy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, Kacy, Mitchell, Brooke, Clif, Billy, Angela, April, Berri, Cassie, Angie, Tracey, Audrey and Kylie; twelve great-grandchildren, Ashton, Cade, Jaycie, Justin, Kayla, Cayson, Riley, Wyatt, Leo, Dylan, Cayleigh and Alexander; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Iva King; three husbands, Clifton “Joe” Mitchell, John D. Mills and J W Wakefield; and four siblings, Wanda Ann Hayes, Lois Hayes, Edith Kennedy and Carl King.Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Garden of the Last Supper.
