Billy Joe Boyd's Obituary
Billy Joe Boyd passed from this life and into Heaven on August 28th, 2022. He was close to celebrating his 88th birthday. Billy was born on October 7th, 1934 to Charlie and Macie Boyd in Checotah, OK.
He started his education in a two-room schoolhouse in Prairie View, OK; graduated High School in Bentonville, AR and obtained his Engineering degree from the University of Arkansas. Go Hogs!
(He would want me to say that.) While at the University he played football and ran track. He continued to run on a regular basis for most of his life while he was still able. He served in the U.S. Army, spent time in Korea and was able to see parts of the world he otherwise may have missed.
He married the love of his life on July 3rd, 1963 on the lawn in front of his Grandparents farmhouse and they managed to have 46 wonderful years together before she passed in 2010. He is pre-deceased by his parents as well as siblings Thurman, Ewell, Natina, James and Charles Ray as well as his youngest daughter Kim. Billy is survived by his son Joe, daughter Cherie, stepson Richard and many grandchildren as well as greatgrandchildren.
Billy worked at places such as Caterpillar and as a civil engineer in Bella Vista, AR but ultimately spent the vast majority of his career at McDonnell Douglas and Boeing where he worked on significant projects including F-15 and F-16 fighter jets as well as Air Force One.
Billy was a calm compassionate soul who had many friends that loved him dearly and he most assuredly loved each one of them in return. We take comfort knowing that after twelve long years without her, Pop is finally with his “Honey” and she is with her “Sweet Babboo”.
