Billy Gene Carr's Obituary
” Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but, Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”Bill G. Carr, child of God, went to his Heavenly home on February 20, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born to Mildred Josephine Evans Carr and James Ketchum Carr in Ft. Smith Arkansas, on August 9, 1933. He spent his formative years in Roland, Oklahoma. He attended Connor’s State College as a very young man of 17 years. He played basketball there and was an integral part of that team’s success. He met the most beautiful woman he’d ever known, fell in love with her with a wink. They married on June 30,1953. That woman’s name was Ravenna June Barnes. Once Bill completed his course work at Connors State, the happily wed couple moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he studied structural engineering at,the then known, Oklahoma A&M. He graduated in 3 years, and accepted a position with a company within the aircraft industry, ultimately reached the level of Director. He retired in 1992, following 35 years of dedicated service. Throughout his life, Bill loved the Lord and longed to draw closer to Him. As an adult, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at Asbury United Methodist Church surrounded by many loving family and friends. His strong faith and study of his faith allowed Bill to become the strong Christian man that he was until his death. In addition to the love of his faith and his family, he was a little league baseball coach, Sunday school teacher, voracious reader, loved to play golf , enjoyed traveling on road trips around the United States with his wife and family friends, was an active member on the board of a credit union. He loved to laugh, and often did at his own expense. He loved to watch sports, especially college football and basketball. Of particular interest to him was this team called “the Oklahoma State Cowboys”?? Bill is survived by his wife and the love of his life for 62 blessed years, June Carr.
