Billy James Johnson's Obituary
Billy James Johnson, 83, of Catoosa, Oklahoma, passed away May 11, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 17, 1937 in Canton, Texas to Ocie Lee and Narcissus Johnson.He is preceded in death by his parents and sister,Louise Reynolds. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years,Sharon Johnson, his sons, James and wife Joy, Bruce and wife Stephanie, Terry and wife Chari, daughter Billee,brother-in-law, Brian Reynolds, sister,Mary Sandersand husband Carl, 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews and friends.Bill was raised in Canton, Texas and moved with his family to Arpelar, Oklahoma where he met and married his wife Sharon. After graduating from Haywood High School, Bill served 6 years in the U.S. Navy before moving to Catoosa, Oklahoma to raise his family. He retired after 43 years of employment as a millwright at Crosby-McKissickin Tulsa. Following retirement, Bill spent several years raising cattle on the family farm and eventually retired permanently to travel abroad with Sharon. Bill was an avid fisherman, bird hunter and loved to watch his children and grandchildren in all their activities. He was a longtime member of Gracemont and First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow and assisted several years on the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief chainsaw team. A viewing will be observed at the Floral Haven funeral home, Thursday, May 14th from 1pm to 5pm. A brief grave-side ceremony will be held on Friday, May 15th for family only due to the COVID pandemic. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow in late summer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14 from 1 pm - 5 pm.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
