Billy Don Lovelace's Obituary
Billy Don Lovelace, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. He was surrounded by the loving presence of his devoted wife, Susan, and their son. Born on Friday, July 9, 1945, in Lepanto, Arkansas, Billy was the beloved son of Alva and Minnie Lovelace.
At the age of 23, Billy embarked on a fulfilling career as an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines. His dedication to his craft was evident, as he continued to excel in his role for an impressive 36 years until his well-earned retirement at the age of 63. His expertise and passion left an indelible mark on the aviation industry.
On February 25, 1967, Billy united his life with his soulmate, Susan. Their 56-year marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and together they weathered life's joys and challenges. The couple was blessed with two sons, James Lovelace and Darrel Lovelace.
After spending many years in Tulsa, Billy and Susan set out on a new adventure, moving to Verdigris, Oklahoma, in 1977. Billy's green thumb was renowned, as he cultivated flourishing gardens that yielded abundant produce. He generously shared his bountiful harvests with his colleagues at Baker-Hughes, where Susan was employed. His vegetables were not just sustenance, but a symbol of his care and kindness toward others.
Billy possessed a remarkable talent for fixing things. He was a true handyman who could mend anything that needed repair, sparing his family from the need to call upon external help. His ingenuity and ability to solve problems were truly exceptional, and his absence is deeply felt.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Minnie Lovelace, his son Darrel, his sister Margie, an infant brother Jimmy Edward Lovelace, Thurman Lovelace, Manny Lovelace, and Stoney Lovelace, Barbara Parsons and nephew David Sims.
Billy is survived by his devoted wife of over half a century, Susan; his son James Lovelace of Castlerock, Colorado; and his cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Collin, and Owen. He is also survived by his two sisters, Zelda Gibreath and Rosie Pfieffer.
The legacy of Billy Don Lovelace is one of dedication, love, and resourcefulness. His presence enriched the lives of those around him, and his memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of family and friends.
As we say goodbye to a beloved husband, father, and friend, let us find solace in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched.
