Billy Eugene Mount's Obituary
Billy Eugene Mount, age 81, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life Saturday, September 23, 2023, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Billy was born January 21, 1942, to William and Joy (Boren) Mount, in Pryor, Oklahoma.
He retired from the Williams Companies in 1995 where he was Treasurer of the company’s major natural gas transmission company. Over his 30-year history in the oil and gas industry he held various management positions ranging from budget analyst to Treasurer and Manager of Strategic and Long Range Planning. At one point Bill was responsible for the financial analysis and funding for the now major oil and gas production plays in Wyoming and Montana.
Bill graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in accounting, with a minor in economics. During his college days he was elected president of the Society for the Advancement of Management and was involved in various campus organizations.
Following his retirement from Williams, Bill tried his hand at retirement; golf, television surfing, gardening and fishing with little satisfying success at any. He began volunteering at various organizations and was elected Chairman of the Service Corp of Retired Executives in Tulsa in 2001. This led to his introduction to John Blue, OSBDC Regional Director and his subsequent acceptance of a temporary one year position with the organization in March 2003. Bill joined the Northeastern State University Small Business Development Center in 2003 as a Business Development Specialist. He was honored in 2010 as Oklahoma’s State Star for developing a comprehensive financial projection model which is used statewide to prepare small business loan packages.
Bill is survived by his wife: Cheryl Mount; his children: Lisa Hall, Michael Mount and Aaron Mount; bonus daughter: Monica Schafer; sister: Pat Brown; and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents: William and Joy Mount; and brother-in-law: James Brown.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, October 20 at 12:30pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK.
