Billy Joe Shetters' Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Shetters, a man of strong will, quiet strength, and curiosity, who passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Born on December 6, 1950, in the heart of Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Cecil and Lura Shetters, Bill had deep roots in the city he always cared about and took an interest in its history. He loved reading and staying informed, keeping up with current events and often engaging in conversations about what was happening in the world. In 1978, Bill embarked on a new chapter, moving his family to Houston, where he dedicated himself to the craft of auto body painting. This was more than a profession—it reflected his meticulous nature and strong work ethic. He approached each project with precision, taking pride in transforming damaged surfaces into flawless finishes. His commitment to quality and attention to detail earned him respect in his trade.
After years of dedicated work, he returned to Tulsa, the community he proudly called home for the remainder of his life.Bill had a strong interest in science and computers and enjoyed learning about new developments. He also had an interest in birdwatching, similar to his father later in life, and found quiet moments observing nature. He remained interested in the mysteries of outer space throughout his life.
