Billy Walker Street Jr's Obituary
Bill was born on April 22, 1948, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the firstborn son of Bill and Jean Street. The family moved from Kansas City to Stillwater, Oklahoma, so Bill’s father could attend Oklahoma State University, then known as Oklahoma A&M. A short time later, the family moved and settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A year after the move, Bill’s father opened Street’s TV & Appliance, which became Oklahoma’s largest Sony dealer and operated for 30 years. Bill Jr. worked in the family business for 23 years. He later moved to Neosho, Missouri, where he met and fell in love with Margaret Ann Platt. They were married on May 10, 1975, and had two daughters, JoAnna Lynn and Lori Michelle.
Bill served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve from 1967 to 1972. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class. In July 1972, he earned his wings as a private pilot. Bill was born again on December 14, 1979, and surrendered to the call of God on March 1, 1981. For 44 years, he served as an Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher.
Throughout his ministry, he held 661 crusades across 38 states and authored 35 books, of which more than 850,000 copies were distributed throughout all 50 states and 18 foreign countries. He received over 450,000 signed decision cards for Jesus Christ and discipled more than 585,000 people through the mail. Thousands of signs, wonders, and miracles accompanied his ministry. He and his wife, Margaret, served together in ministry for 44 years.
Bill founded Action Ministries, Inc. in March 1981 and served as President and CEO of Mid-America Prison Ministries until his passing.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Ann (Platt) Street of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his two daughters, JoAnna Maust (with her husband Jon and their children Bella, Jonathan, Jackson, and Justus) and Lori Whitmore (with her husband Victor and their children Kristina Cheek, Leon IV “Bo”, Zachary, and Preston); and three great-grandchildren (D’Artagnan, Cedar, and Aspen Cheek). He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jean Street; his brother, Robert Garry Street; and his grandson, Kingston James Whitmore.
