Bobby Gene Mooney's Obituary
Bobby Gene Mooney September 19, 1937 – June 8, 2026
Bobby Gene Mooney, 88, of Henryetta, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026. A gifted engineer, skilled mechanic, pilot, motorcyclist, and devoted family man, Bobby spent his life building, repairing, creating, and providing for those he loved.
Born on September 19, 1937, in Porum, Oklahoma, Bobby was a man defined by determination, ingenuity, and an unwavering work ethic. He built a successful career as an engineer with Flint Steel, Shell and Tube, GEA Rainey, and Tek-Fins, where he earned the respect of colleagues for his technical expertise, innovative thinking, and ability to solve complex problems.
Hard work was simply a way of life for Bobby. He often worked his engineering job during the day and moonlighted at night, always willing to take on another project or challenge. On weekends, he could often be found repairing vehicles, rebuilding engines, performing body work, and helping family and friends with mechanical repairs. There seemed to be very little Bobby could not fix once he set his mind to it.
Despite his demanding schedule, Bobby always made time for his family. One of the traditions his children remember most fondly was the annual family trip to Branson, Missouri. These vacations created treasured memories filled with laughter, adventure, and togetherness. No matter how busy life became, Bobby understood the importance of spending time with the people he loved.
His love of mechanics extended far beyond his career. Bobby was an avid Corvair enthusiast who enjoyed restoring and maintaining the automobiles he loved. His adventurous spirit led him to earn his pilot’s license, and he treasured the freedom of the open road while traveling on his Gold Wing motorcycle. He also enjoyed riding off-road motorcycles with his son Greg, participating in motorcycle club activities and creating lasting memories aboard his beloved Bultaco and Ossa motorcycles.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Gordon Mooney (January 21, 1940 – October 11, 1985), and his son, Mark Mooney.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Mooney; his son, William Gregory Mooney and wife Cean Stapp Mooney; his daughters, Pam Crow and Krista Mooney-Shea and husband Richard Shea; and his cherished grandchildren, Brian Rawson, Heather Rawson, Chelsea Sisson, Rory Moonfield, Braden Chenoweth, Gage Goodwin, Tanner Goodwin, Riley Mooney, Aubrey Mooney, and Jacob Mooney. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, extended family members, and many dear friends.
While Bobby was not a man of many words, he expressed his love through action. He provided for his family, shared his knowledge freely, and was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed help. His family knew him as a provider, a problem solver, and a steady presence whose influence will continue to be felt for generations.
Bobby will be remembered for his sharp mind, remarkable work ethic, adventurous spirit, generous heart, and enduring commitment to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lessons he taught through example, and the countless lives he touched throughout his 88 years.
A celebration of life memorial service will take place on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, at 12:30PM at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Floral Haven Memorial Gardens - Garden of St. Paul.
