Bonnie J McCormick's Obituary
Bonnie McCormick, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away May 23, 2023 at the age of 92. Born to Elmer and Maudie Hudson on January 7, 1931, Bonnie’s life was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Bonnie’s playfulness and witty sense of humor brought joy to everyone she knew.
On June 30, 1950, Bonnie embarked on a lifelong journey of love when she married Charley McCormick. They started a family, raised two daughters, and were blessed with grandchildren. After 55 wonderful years together, Charley passed away, but Bonnie stayed behind to meet their first great-grandchildren—proof of the lasting legacy of their love.
Bonnie was a dedicated employee of Southwestern Bell, where she worked for an impressive 32 years. She started as a switchboard operator in her very early days with the company. Her good nature, commitment, and work ethic made her a valued member of the company and she formed lifelong friendships with her colleagues.
Bonnie's greatest joy in life was her family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother, always there to provide support, unconditional love, and her classic Bonnie witticisms.
Bonnie is survived by, daughter, Kathe Murchison and husband Preston Murchison, daughter, Karen Smith and husband Rob Smith, grandchildren, Preston Murchison and wife Miranda, Brian Murchison, Amy Murchison, and Mallory Treakle-Smith and husband, James. Great granddaughters, Kalista Murchison and Everly Murchison, and niece, Kathe Copeland and her husband, Bob Copeland, as well as great nephews David Heflin and Todd Heflin. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Edwina Martin, and husband, Charley McCormick.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will take place on June 13, 2023 at 10am at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. We invite all who knew and loved Bonnie to join us in honoring her memory.
