Bonnie Ann Taylor's Obituary
Bonnie Ann Taylor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 25, 2026, at the age of 95. Bonnie was born on October 8, 1930, in Wallace, Kansas to Carl and Velma Barger. She was a middle child with a total of 6 siblings, now all deceased. She grew up in Chelsea, OK and enjoyed fishing, riding her horse Prince, and working in the garden.
Bonnie moved to Tulsa after graduating from Chelsea High School and worked at Tulsa University. She met the love of her life, E.J. Taylor, Jr in 1949 and married later that year. They shared 56 years together and raised 4 daughters: Le, Pam, Denise and Tracey. E.J. worked at Bovaird Supply Co while Bonnie was a stay-at-home mom. She returned to work in 1971 at Sylvan Printing and Supply as office manager.
Bonnie delighted in her 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who knew her as “Gigi”. Her grandchildren remember playing games, shopping and having tea parties with her. Gigi traveled to hold each of her great grandchildren as babies and to see their activities as they grew up: band concerts, soccer games, volleyball games and recitals. She never passed up an opportunity to be with them.
Bonnie enjoyed gardening - a true passion. Even up to her 90’s, she would be working in the soil, planting, watering and adding mulch. She loved to sew and made most of her daughters’ clothing and all their doll clothes. She was a wonderful cook- no one matched her fried chicken dinners and her delicious peach and cherry cobblers she made often. Bonnie loved to go shopping for clothing and jewelry especially with her daughters and granddaughters. Bowling was a love of hers and she was in a league in her younger years. She loved her cat, Callie, that showed up on her doorstep soon after her husband passed and cared for Callie for several years.
Bonnie accepted Christ as her personal Savior from an early age and raised her family at Garnett Road Baptist Church, where she was a member for 63 years. She loved to serve and visit those who were unable to attend church. She read her Bible daily until she lost most of her vision and prayed out loud at night from her bed.
Bonnie enjoyed traveling and had visited many countries including Mexico, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Canada. Along with her gardening, she developed many friends and enjoyed playing cards and Bunco especially with her Forest Creek subdivision friends. One of combined passions with her husband was the love of OU sports, which she carried on after his passing. Bonnie was a huge OU football fan and never missed watching a televised game, decked out with full regalia in crimson and cream.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Taylor, Jr; parents Carl and Velma Barger; brothers Hugh Barger, Edwin Barger, Bobby Barger, Gerald Barger; sisters Margie Kowal and Linda Mahoney.
Bonnie is survived by her 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law: Le Spencer, Pam Harnden (Rod), Denise Patterson (Dan), and Tracey Taylor; 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons-in-law: Amy Johnson (Ruston), Lindsay Hutson (Kurt), and Taylor Graves(Noah); and 6 great-grandchildren; Grier, Harper, and Sutton Johnson, Colby and Reese Hutson, and Parker Graves.
The family is very grateful to The Parke Assisted Living staff and her caregivers who showed her such love and compassion and to A-Vow Hospice for their excellent care.
Mom, we will miss you more than one can express, and our hearts are sad, but we find comfort in knowing you are reunited with your loving husband and in the presence of your Savior wholly healed.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held on July 10, 2026 at 10am at Garnett Road Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
