Brenda Earlene Carrell's Obituary
Brenda Earlene Reed Carrell went to be with her beloved Jesus at her home in Tulsa, OK on July 25, 2017 at the age of 59. Brenda was born on November 16, 1957 in Tulsa, OK to Mary Verlene (Lewis) and Earl Loren Reed.Brenda was a talented writer who had an eloquent way with words. She knew more about politics than anyone could have ever imagined and she was passionate about her beliefs. She adored her son Paul Sherman, the light of her life, and her precious cat Elsie Sue. Her two sisters, Diane Osuna and Lisa Stephens, were her everything. No one could have asked for a better big sister. When you walked into her home, the walls were adorned with pictures of cherubs and angels. She often spoke of how she dreamed of seeing them with her own eyes. There is no doubt Brenda is basking in the presence of Jesus while standing in awe of His angels and her beautiful new Heavenly home. Her loving parents were waiting at Heaven’s gates ready to take her in their arms once again.Brenda attended Bell Junior High and Will Rogers High School in Tulsa where she was actively involved in a plethora of activities, including Lasso’s, modern dance, journalism, and varsity cheer, even being named Homecoming Queen at Bell and Band Queen at Rogers. She was loved by so many. She studied journalism and business management at Tulsa Junior College and worked as an Account Executive at Lorillard Tobacco Company in Tulsa, OK.Brenda was a true friend. From the day she was born to the day she left this earth, Brenda maintained special friendships – bonds that could not be broken. She loved with all her heart and was there for anyone who needed her. She was a loyal and devoted friend who loved to smile. Her infectious giggle and memorable facial expressions will forever be etched in her family and friends’ hearts.She loved spending time with her family and going to concerts. She was an avid music fan, even sneaking onto the stage at a Leon Russell concert and laying under the piano with a literal front row view. This was one of the thousands of beautiful memories her friends and family have of her blessed and never boring life.Brenda is survived by her son Paul Smith of Tulsa, OK; sisters Diane Osuna of Tulsa, OK and Lisa Stephens of Collinsville, OK; brothers-in-law William Metzger of Hutchinson, KS, Virgil Stephens of Collinsville, OK, and Chuck Osuna of Tulsa, OK; nieces Amy Walton of Tulsa, OK and Leslie Metzger of Collinsville, OK; nephews Adam Linthicum of Tulsa, OK, Alex Linthicum of Tulsa, OK, and Billy Walton of Tulsa, OK; great-niece Kaylen Walton of Tulsa, OK; many cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family around the United States; and hundreds of close friends whom adored her.Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Verlene and Earl Reed, ex-husband Rick Smith, and brother-in-law Tommy Linthicum.A celebration of life funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made for Brenda’s burial plot at www.gofundme.com/brendareed. She will be laid to rest at the feet of her beloved parents at Floral Haven’s Devotion Garden. It was a pure gift from God that this space was available. Prayers are also greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
