Candy L. Brown, age 63, passed away at 5:50 PM this past Sunday in her home surrounded by friends and family. Candy was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to William and Dora Houston November 10th 1945. She graduated from Terre Haute’s Gerstmeyer High School in 1963. On May 7, 1966 Candy married John W. Brown of Marion, Illinois. On July 3, 1968 she gave birth to John W. Brown, Jr. and a 2nd child, Rodney W. Brown, on November 3, 1971. Candy and John settled in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in 1973 where Candy began a career with Broken Public Schools as a Teacher’s Aide. She touched the hearts of many young and old alike at Southside Elementary, Lynn Lane Elementary, Lynn Wood Elementary, and Spring Creek Elementary. She will be remembered as “Mrs. Brown”. In 1995 Candy left B.A.P.S. to start a family owned computer business, JRB Computers with her husband John and son Rodney. Her love for Broken Arrow public schools continued by adopting Lynn Wood Elementary as a Partner In Education (P.I.E.). In 1999, the computer business closed and another family venture, Quality Signs & Banners began again with John and Rodney. Her support for Lynn Wood still continues today through the P.I.E. program. Throughout the years Candy supported her husband and gained many friendships in the Shrine and the Elks. She was a member of St. Anne’s and St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Broken Arrow. Survivors of Candy are her husband, two sons, two daughter-in-laws, three grand children and two sisters. A memorial service will be held on her behalf at Floral Haven Funeral Home this Friday January 23rd at 10:00AM.
