Carl Lawrence Beck's Obituary
Carl Lawrence Beck was born on August 8, 1937, in Monessen, Pennsylvania to John and Katherine Beck and passed from this life, surrounded by his loved ones, on December 19, 2024, at the age of 87. His life was a testament to kindness, empathy, and generosity.
Carl graduated from Monessen High School in 1955 and subsequently attended Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated with a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering and was a member of the Phi Kappa Fraternity. After working at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel for many years, he and his family moved to Oklahoma in 1983 for a job with Erlanger Tubular Corporation at the Port of Catoosa. Carl was a member of the American Petroleum Institute, which entailed yearly meetings in the Unites States, Canada, and Mexico. Louise accompanied Carl on most of the API destinations, which allowed them, and sometimes the entire family, to explore new places through travel. Carl and Louise made lasting friends and memories on these adventures and continued to travel after his retirement in 2007.
A dedicated family man, Carl cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He never missed an opportunity to crack a joke at a family gathering or to share a special memory. He loved watching sports, especially his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, and amazed everyone with his ability to easily recount the details and stats of every game. “Pappap” enjoyed playing golf (with his grandsons and son-in-law) whenever he could and attended his grandkids’ many sporting events and activities throughout the years. Carl also kept himself busy with his volunteer work at Meals on Wheels, the Food Pantry, and as a weekly usher in church at St Benedict’s.
Carl is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Louise Beck; his son, Kevin Beck; his daughter, Lori Dale, and her husband, Thad. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Carson Dale and his wife Ashley and their baby girl to arrive in January, Wesley Dale and his wife Hailey, and Macy Dale. He is also survived by his nephews John Beck, Dr. Michael Beck, and Mark Beck, and his niece Karen Beck, and many other family members across the country and in Croatia. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Beck; his parents, John Beck and Katherine Beck; his brother, John Beck; his sister-in-law Gloria Beck; and his parents-in-law, John Soltis and Mary Soltis.
Carl's gentle compassion and kind gestures left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His memory will forever be a beacon of kindness and love for his family, friends, and community.
A service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 11 am at Saint Benedict Catholic Church, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
