Carl Darden's Obituary
Carl Darden, 95 of Owasso, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, October 5, 2018 in Owasso. He was born July 3, 1923 in Coweta, Oklahoma, a son of James S. Darden and Goldie Mae Swarer Sly. Carl has been a lifelong resident of Northeastern Oklahoma.Carl was a Navy Veteran who served in both WWII and the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of FT3. Carl later went on to open his own tire store called Carl’s Tires in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he owned and operated the store for 14 years.He is survived by one son, Keith Darden of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; three daughters, Carla Sue Buck and husband Ron of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Phyllis Jean Stertefeldt of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gayla Papke of Collinsville, Oklahoma; one sister, Lucille Forester of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; 17 grandchildren; 22 plus 2 on the way great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, James Darden and Goldie Sly; his wife, Flora Darden; two grandchildren; two sons, David Lee Darden and Kenneth Darden; one brother, Elmer Lee Darden and one sister, Helen Thompson.Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Discovery Bible Fellowship in Collinsville, Oklahoma with private burial at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
