Carl Vance Kime's Obituary
OBITUARY Carl V. Kime passed away April 21, 2012. He was born January 3, 1920 to Ina and Ben Kime in Macomb Oklahoma. Kime honored his heritage as tribal roll member of the Potawatomie Citizen Nation. He also contributed many pre-run family artifacts to the Potawatomie Historical Center. Carl served 36 years in public education. Upon discharge from the Army in 1945, he began his teaching career in Vida Way, Payne County. Prior to entering the Tulsa Public School system, he also served at Limestone School in Bartlesville and three years as principal of Sperry High School. He then became principal at Lowell School, Roosevelt Junior High School and retired from Whitney Middle School. During his tenure in Tulsa, he served as president of the Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association, Tulsa Junior High School Principals Association and Oklahoma Association of Junior High School Principals. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, son Carl V. Kime, Jr. (Poncho) and daughter, Dr. Benna Kay Kime. Survivors include his daughter Diana and daughter-in-law, Kathy; four granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Thursday, April 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Floral Haven. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27 in the Floral Haven Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the American Cancer Society.
