He served 2 years in the US Army and was stationed in Fort Dix, NJ where he developed his life-long interest in cooking. His favorite activities were duck-pin bowling, where he received a national ranking, and baseball, whether it was playing, watching, or talking statistics to anyone who would listen. Joe married Lois (Elms) Enos on February 19, 1983 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in February 2013. With Tulsa as their home base, Joe and Lois worked and traveled to several states and 15 foreign countries. After he retired, they moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma. Joe is survived by his 4 children, Carl Scharrer, Gregory Scharrer, Joseph Scharrer, and Tesina Scharrer Painter; 3 stepsons, Dennis Enos, Steve Enos, and David Enos; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
