Carmelita Teresa Newquist's Obituary
Carmelita "Carmen" Teresa Newquist, age 82, a resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed from this life, surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Carmen was born July 16, 1941, to Premo and Rose (Brunetti) Franco in Tontitown, Arkansas. Carmen married the love of her life, Larry William Newquist, May 02, 1969, in Tontitown.
Carmen was a devoted wife, mother and friend who touched countless lives. Reigning as Tontitown’s Queen Concordia1958, she went on to successfully managed a law office for 30 years. A dear friend and attorney was quoted saying; “Carmen knew more than any of us!” Outside of work, she had many other talents and interests. Carmen was an excellent seamstress, a creative scrapbooker and card maker – and wow, could she cook! She and Larry were the presidents of their square dance club and enjoyed spending most weekends at the lake with family and friends. Most importantly, Carmen loved life and showered everyone around her with joy. She had a smile that would brighten your whole day, and her laugh was contagious. Carmen welcomed everyone into her life with love and grace, and we are all richer for it.
Left behind to cherish Carmen's memory are her husband Larry Newquist; son Bradford Newquist and husband Ken; son Scott Newquist; fur baby Dexter; brother Raymond Franco and wife Pauline; brother-in-law Joseph Piazza; many nieces and nephews including Paula Lantz, Sonya Piazza, and Travis Piazza; and special friend Marcus Wright. Carmen is preceded in death by her parents Premo and Rose Franco; and her beloved sister Marlene Piazza.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Carmen to your favorite charity.
