Carol Sue Burk's Obituary
Carol Sue Burk, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old. Carol was born December 28, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Sybil Mildred (Barnett) Holt and William Brasfield Holt. Carol came to know the Lord with her beloved Ernie at Lynn Baptist Church in Tulsa. They served at Plainview Baptist Church for over twenty-five years. Carol's passion was teaching 3rd and 4th graders in Sunday School. She also enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School, participating in the women's Bible study, volunteering for the church library, cooking at Falls Creek, and hosting numerous wedding and baby showers. Carol was always touched by young adults that would come back to the church and tell her how she impacted their lives. Carol and Ernie moved to Claremore when they retired, and she led the Wednesday night children's group continuing to teach at New Life Baptist Church. Next to Ernie, she was completely devoted to her three children, eight grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in passing by her parents, Bill and Sybil Holt, and her cherished grandmother, Ella Barnett. Carol is survived by her husband, Ernest Richard Burk, of nearly 61 years; her brother, "Bubbie" Bill Jerry Holt, and sister-in-law, Jan; her younger brother, Mike Holt; son, John Burk, and daughter-in-law, Vicki; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Ruble and son-in-law, Phil; daughter, Shelly McGehee and son-in-law, David; her grandchildren, Matt Burk (Andrea), Megan Schott (Bryan), Mitch Burk (Kayla), Michael Fullingim, Alex Hutchings (Ryan), Ashlynne Ruble (Eric), Zach Wolfe (Sammy) and Skyler Ruble; her nine great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
The funeral service will be 3:00 pm, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
