Carol Diane Miller's Obituary
Carol Diane Miller, age 65, of Coweta, OK passed away
on Tuesday, February 21st at 10:15pm after a nine year
valiant battle with Anklyosing Spondylitis and a fearless five
month battle with Leukemia.
Carol was born on December 23rd, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma
to Derl and Kenny Ann Wood. She attended Owen and
Peary Elementary Schools, Foster Junior High School, and
graduated East Central High School in 1976. She played
softball, took dance and piano lessons, did gymnastics, was a
cheerleader, sang in chorus and was active in the youth group
at Garnett Church of Christ.
During high school she worked in childcare at the local
bowling alley, and worked at the Tulsa World after graduation.
As an adult, Carol ran an in-home childcare. Eventually
she began her professional career in the natural gas field as a
Receptionist where she climbed the corporate ladder to her
final position as a Natural Gas Scheduler. Additionally, Carol
also worked at the gym as a Personal Trainer.
Carol was an avid runner. She trained and ran countless
road races with her Dad including the annual Tulsa Run as
well as many half and full marathons. She proudly identitified
herself as a runner, even having a custom license plate
proclaiming a the unique experience of the
“runner’s high;” ‘RUNRSHI.’
She married in 1977 and had two children; Alan Hancock
and Jill Davis. Carol thrived in her role as ‘Mom.’ She took
great joy in raising Alan and Jill and considered this the
greatest achievement of her life.
Carol married Keith Miller on October 14, 2008. Carol’s
years being married to Keith were her most joy-filled adulthood
years. Together they enjoyed bicycling, hiking, paddleboarding,
motorcycle ride trips, corralling their herd of
beloved dogs, and working outdoors on their land. She and
Keith (‘Noni and Pops’) had nine grandchildren. They transformed
their home into a grandkids’ wonderland of fun with
doll houses, toy trains, four wheelers, a zip line, mountain
bikes, a swimming pool, basketball goal and more. She
brought them all such joy and they knew they were each
deeply loved by her.
Carol is remembered for her many admirable qualities
including her strength, love, selflessness, kindness, devotion,
her nurturing nature, radiant joy, and for her bright, beautiful
smile.
