Carol Ann Perryman's Obituary
Carol Ann Wisdom Perryman
February 7, 1947 – April 5, 2024
Carol Ann was born on February 7, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Harry Wisdom and Helen Huff Wisdom. At 9 months of age, Carol lost her mother, Helen, to cancer. Harry remarried, and the new family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then to Scottsdale, Arizona.
Carol graduated from Scottsdale High School in 1965 and then went on to attend beauty school. As fate would have it – Carol’s best friend arranged a double date with some cute Air Force GIs from the base. This double date ended with Carol Ann and Robert Wayne Perryman falling in love, dating and eloping to Ringo, Georgia, to get married on February 6, 1967.
After marriage, the couple were separated by the Vietnam war, as Wayne was sent overseas for military duty. Carol was pregnant with their first child, Steven Wayne Perryman, and would give birth without her husband by her side on October 9, 1967. Carol sent overseas to Wayne an audio recording of his son’s first cries to help bridge the distance and include Wayne on the joys of fatherhood.
After Wayne’s tour of duty, he was able to get a job with American Airlines and moved their young family to the Tulsa area. The family was not in Oklahoma for long before they were uprooted by an American Airlines transfer and sent to the Detroit area in Michigan. This is where Carol gave birth to their second child, Jonathan Edward Perryman, on July 16, 1971.
The family settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the 1970’s. Carol’s dream was to become a nurse, so while working side jobs and raising two children – Carol went to school to become an RN. Carol graduated RN school in 1988, worked for St. Francis Hospital until her retirement in 2012. Carol would say besides being a mom to her two boys, being a nurse was one of her biggest accomplishments.
Carol and Wayne celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary this past February.
Carol is survived by her husband, Robert Wayne Perryman, sons, Steven Perryman and Jonathan Perryman, their wives, Andrea and Trudy. Five adored grandchildren, Cole Perryman, Kate Perryman, Luke Perryman, Ben Perryman, Vivien Perryman, and their godchild, Tara Rose.
