Today is the first anniversary of Daddy's death. Still hear his voice in my head so much I feel like it has just been days since I saw him. Standing in the kitchen with his hands on his hips lecturing me about politics or religion. Such a force to be reckoned with! I'm spending the day in celebration of Daddy's life, a trip to the art museum, enjoying the architecture of the buildings in Downtown Denver, and a meal with good 'old Southern cooking! He's left a good legacy in all of us but I never stop missing him! Love, Lorry

Today would have been Daddy's 83rd birthday. Wish we could celebrate by getting all the family together like we did on his 80th birthday. Some very happy memories of all the family enjoying food, drink, and laughter around Kerri and Stuart's swimming pool. Love the fact that Jake was able to celebrate his 20th birthday right along side his grandfather (they shared the same birthday). I still grieve for Daddy but I'm able to enjoy the wonderful times and memories I've shared with him for all these years. Hope he is looking down and smiling! Happy birthday, old man!

miss you Daddy! You and Mom have been my anchor throughout my life and have always been there to catch me if I fell. You've given me the support and stability to keep me tethered and not set adrift throught life. The challenge now is to find my own anchor in life and the strength to face whatever challenges life sends my way. I miss all your little physical gestures, all the little quirky things you do that make you into the unique individualist you've always been. I miss your intellect, your humor (even your sarcasm), and your love for everything beautiful in life. You've passed on your love of reading, your love of music, and your love for learning to all of your children and grandchildren. I'm so grateful to have had the chance to be able to tell you good-bye. I know you're never very far away. I send my thoughts, my prayers, and my love to you each and every day. I read a book that said we're only a breath away from our loved ones who are gone. Once we take our last breath, we'll see them again. I hold onto the faith and hope that you went first to pave the way for the rest of your family. Thank you for being concerned about our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being throughout your life. We always knew that you loved us (even though you might not always agree with us) and that we always came first in your life. Thank you for passing on a wonderful set of values to your family. You've taught us honesty, sincerity, gratitude, kindness, caring, and compassion and both you and Mom have set an example of sharing yourselves with others. You've left a wonderful legacy behind and your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren carry everything you've taught us and shown us throughout the rest of their lives. I wish I'd been able to tell you more times how much you mean to me and how much I love you. I know you always knew but those words are nice to hear. You have been a wonderful, loving father and we al miss you very much. We all pray that the peace you have found will someday extend to the rest of your family and we will all be reunited. Carol was so very very nice. I really enjoyed visiting with him. The floorplan he drew for me I built four times in Broken Arrow and after 30 years they are still beautiful homes. Jo, you have so much sympathy from all of us here in Bokoshe and you are in our prayers. Unfortunately due to health issues in all of our families I do not think any of us can make the funeral. Joy

To JoAnn and family: I regret that we cannot attend the service due to health issues. We miss Carol and know that he is in a better place. we have grown closer since we moved back from Alaska after about 30 years. I would kid him that he must have thought the road to Alaska only ran one way, he would just smile and agree with me. Bink spent many happy times with Carol and family while attending TU. To the Stanley Family,I will always treasure my fond memories of growing up in Tulsa, especially going to my Uncle Carol and Aunt JoAnne's house. They treated me like one of their children and welcomed me and my family with open arms. My Uncle Carol was a very thoughtful and generous man; he will be missed by so many, I miss him already. Many stories to share. But one such story is when Carol was drawing up the plans for our house, Kerri and I would often have many changes for him as you could imagine. We would walk into his office, he would glance at us and without a greeting would just mutter an exasperated, "Oh….you're here…..let me get my eraser."
