Carol Ann Wallace's Obituary
Carol Ann Marquart Wallace, beloved wife, mother and grandmother (“Nona”), passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in Beggs, Oklahoma. She was 64 years of age. Carol was born in South Bend, Indiana on November 18, 1951; she was the oldest of three children born to Richard (Dick) Leslie Marquart and Lorena Jean Allen Marquart. Carol discovered her love of animals, especially horses and dogs, at a very young age, and she loved and cared for many animals throughout her life. She graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1970, where she played the French Horn, and from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1974 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing. She was a proud member of the Alpha Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority during her time at DePauw and throughout her life. After graduation, Carol moved to Dallas, Texas and worked as a nurse at Methodist Hospital, followed by Parkland Hospital and Stevens Park Hospital. In her “spare” time when not working as a nurse, she also worked as a waitress at a country club in Dallas and found plenty of time to spend with her beloved Cocker Spaniel Leta and her puppies. It was in Dallas at Stevens Park Hospital where Carol met her husband, Dr. Arthur Grey Wallace, Jr. In 1978, Carol and Arthur moved to Macomb, Illinois; they were then married during a large snow storm on January 27, 1979 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Brandy, Carol’s beloved yellow Cocker Spaniel, and several horses also lived in Macomb. Carol’s first daughter, Elizabeth Ann, was born in Macomb in 1980. Carol and Arthur moved to Mounds, Oklahoma in 1981, where JR, beloved German Shepherd mix, and several more horses joined the family. Her second daughter, Margaret Jean, was born in 1982, followed by her third daughter, Jennifer Lee, in 1984, and then her son, Arthur Grey Wallace, III, in 1985. In 1989, Carol and Arthur moved their family to Sapulpa, Oklahoma. During that time, Carol was a homemaker, raised all of her children and pets, and traveled with her children to various school and sports activities. German Shepherd mixes Bela and Marta, and black Miniature Poodle Nicki, as well as more horses, joined the family in Sapulpa. In 1999, Carol and Arthur moved to Jenks, Oklahoma. She went back to work in 2004 as a post-operative surgical nurse at St. John Medical Center on the 10-East floor. Carol also worked very hard and trained to renew her lifelong passion of professionally showing her purebred Arabian horses at horse shows around the Midwest Region. She won many awards and made many lifelong animal-loving friends who forever changed and enhanced her life, and the lives of her beloved animals. Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Jean, in June 2012, her father, Dick, in June 2016, and many beloved animal companions. She is survived by her husband Arthur Wallace, Jr., of Jenks; her daughter Beth Ann, and her companion Matthew of Tulsa; her daughter Margi and two beautiful granddaughters Kinlee and Harper of Jenks; her daughter Jenni, and her husband Tyrone of Oklahoma City; her son Arthur of Tulsa; Eric and Sonja, her apricot Miniature Poodles; and her Arabian horses Kaayla, Soiree, BV and Dream; her brother John, and his wife Nancy of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and her sister Nancy, of Gardner, Kansas, along with numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Her dedication to family, her love for all animals, her laugh and smile will never be forgotten. She is very loved and will be greatly missed.
