Carolyn Sue Herrington's Obituary
Carolyn Sue Herrington, age 74, passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2021 due to liver and lung damage caused by the disease AATD. She was born on November 17th, 1946 i n Okay, Oklahoma to Bill and Ruth Wood. She married Randy Herrington on February 19th, 1966. 5 years ago, they celebrated their “50th” wedding anniversary. Sue was full of love and
compassion and expressed it daily; she would do absolutely anything for anyone! This was apparent in her profession as a nurse, medical assistant to Dr. David Merifield, clerk at Pediatric and Adolescent Care, and driving a bus for Broken Arrow Public Schools. She had the voice of an angel, which started early on. She led the singing at First Baptist in
Okay, Oklahoma. Sue and her husband, Randy, traveled throughout Oklahoma ministering in music. She was the choir director at Owen Park Baptist Church, where her husband was the minister, until the disease took that away from her. Family could always count on her calling to sing “Happy Birthday” to them and she took pleasure in singing “Suppertime” every father’s day in memory of her father, Bill. Anyone that came in contact with Carolyn, would be flooded with stories about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You didn’t even have to ask; it was a given. She would talk about Ben, her first grandson, and how he would always go visit Grandma Wood with her, and asked the latest about the great-grandbabies, Hadlee, Weston and Rowen. She lived vicariously through the adventures around the world of her granddaughter, Brittnee. Josh always kept her guessing with his love for adventure and tornado chasing. She would smile
when speaking about Mason and his numerous sports. Liz melted her heart with her kind and loving spirit. They were her world and she wore it on her shirt t hat she would purchase at Affair of the Heart!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruth Wood; Brothers: Ken and Joe Wood.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Herrington, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Daughters: Rhonda Herrington Wells and husband David of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Becky Kiner of Jenks, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren: Ben, Josh and Lizzie Wells and Brittnee and Mason Kiner; Great-grandchildren: Hadlee, Weston and Rowan Wells. Sisters: Lynda Pofahl, Janice DeLue
and Mary Oslin and numerous nieces and nephews.
