Carolyn Ann McAninch's Obituary
Carolyn Ann McAninch (nèe Smith) lost a brief but valiant battle with cancer on May 27th, 2023. Born December 3, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Mary Alma and Jess Levi Smith, the younger sister of Lester Jean Smith, twin sister and life-long best friend of Cathryn Joan Smith-Kennedy. She was a 1956 graduate of the old East Central High School in Tulsa, Ok. While attending East Central, she met Bobby Junior Kirkwood. The two wedded shortly after graduation and spent the next 33 years together until his passing after an extensive battle with leukemia. They would have two sons; Bobby and Jon. She was active in the women’s singing group, The Sweet Adeline’s, and was a 40-year employee of Time Mark Corporation in Tulsa, where she took solemn pride in working along side her twin-sister Cathryn in both. Carolyn would find companionship in a lifelong friend Donald McAninch and two would marry in 1992, where they would spend the next 31 years together. She enjoyed annual camping trips in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, weekend drives to Atoka, OK to have lunch with family from Texas, and the tremendous friendships made over the years as a member of Owasso’s Church of Christ. One of her greatest joys was cheering on her grandchildren at countless sporting events and activities. She is survived by two sons; Bobby Lee Kirkwood of Owasso, OK, Jon Michael and Wife Lisa Kirkwood of Plano, TX, Husband; Donald McAninch, Grandchildren; Francis Marie Kirkwood, Bobby Jr. Kirkwood, Jess Levi Kirkwood, Caleb Michael Kirkwood, and Carolyn Abigail Utley.
