Carolyn Ann Roland's Obituary
Carolyn Ann Berna passed away March 4, 2026. She was a devoted wife to Gary Don Roland for 59 years until his passing on October 4, 2022. She was a proud mother to 2 daughters, Shannon Michelle Wisk and LeeAnn Baney. Carolyn was an amazing self-taught artist in multiple media, including oil paints, watercolor, charcoal, pencil, ink, and mixed media. Our home was filled with her art, from charcoal portraits to brilliant oil paintings. As a freelance graphic artist, she designed logos, menus, and ads in the 60s and 70s. Gary was an aeronautical engineer at McDonnell Douglas, and he and Carolyn shared a deep interest in space and aviation. Carolyn and Gary were also avid auto racing fans, and attended Saturday night races at the Tulsa Fairgrounds for decades. They loved to travel in their younger years, and the family attended races, air shows, and air and space museums across the country. They volunteered for many years at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. After her girls left home, Carolyn began volunteering with the Tulsa Police Department, and was soon hired to work in payroll. She loved that job, and afterwards, devoted herself to the Tulsa Police Officer’s Memorial Fund. Carolyn’s life after Gary passed was made much brighter by her and dad’s longtime friends Bob and Linda Schwartz, John and Jeannie Brandon, and Jan Talbot; by Zella Berna, her sister-in-law who was the sister of her heart, and by her lovely friends at Baptist Village, lead by Barbara Liken. Carolyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband Gary Roland, parents GW and Dorothy Berna, and brother David Berna. She leaves behind daughters Shannon Wisk and LeeAnn Berna, her sister-in-law Zella Berna, and her nieces and nephews.
