Carolyn Sue Ward's Obituary
Carolyn Sue Ward, age 72, died at Sapulpa, OK on January 4th, 2016. Born January 7th, 1943 in Sparks Oklahoma, to Jesse and Julency Duke. She attended Gypsy High School and graduated in 1961. On February 25th 1961, she married Carroll Ward in Okemah, OK. She grew up in Oklahoma. Moved to Kansas and then to Texas, where they lived for 26 years. They recently moved back home to Oklahoma in July of 2015. Carolyn loved her work as a cake decorator until retiring in 2003. She did office work for her husband Carroll’s and daughter Susan’s businesses. Carolyn was an incredible woman, wife, sister, mother, grandma & great-grandma, who everyone loved immensely. Her laugh and smile was infectious. She loved being with family; a game could always be found and her beating the pants off everyone was to be expected! She had a special bond with her grandkids and great-grandkid. Mema is what they called her and she loved them with everything in her. Her kids loved their mom and they loved her. Whether it was for help with a recipe or advice on life, she was always just a phone call away. She and her husband loved each other so much; you could see it in their eyes. They were able to travel together and make priceless memories. They spent 54 years in love and they will love each other eternally. Survivors include husband, Carroll Ward of Sapulpa, OK; children Mike & wife Shelia Ward of Fate, TX, Susan & husband Rick Arkison of Sapulpa, OK, Jeff Ward of Plano, TX and Eric Ward of Las Colinas, TX; grandchildren Jennifer & husband James Lawrence of Sapulpa, OK, Dustin & wife Jenna Downs of Claremore, OK, Brittani & husband Wayne Varnado of Joplin, MO, Zack Ward of Plano, TX, Jacob Ward of Plano, TX and Wanda Kaminski of Denton, TX; great-grandchildren; Rylee, Anastasia, Katie, Will, Aubree, & Joseph; brothers and Sisters Bill Duke, Charles Duke, Dub Duke, Barbara McGuire, Melba VanOrsdol, Maxine Kidd and Naomi Perkins. Carolyn was preceded in death by parents Jesse & Julency Duke, sister Juanita Brown and brother Melvin Duke. Services will be held at 10am on Thursday January 7th at Floral Haven Funeral home, 6500 South 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. Interment will be Floral Haven. Relatives and friends are welcome at Rick & Susan’s preceding services at 831 Lakeview Ct. Sapulpa.
