Carrie Lynn Lindsay's Obituary
Carrie Lynn Lindsay, a vibrant soul who lived life to the fullest, passed away too soon on September 23, 2023. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 20, 1961, to her parents, Carol and Don Lindsay. Don died when Carrie was one year old and considered Delmas Ford her Dad.
Carrie attended Midwest City High School and graduated in 1979. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Northeastern State University. For a time she worked at the Oklahoma Tax Commission. She established her career in the oil and gas industry as a Revenue Accountant at Samson, then in the early 2000s moved to the Accounting Department at Seminole Energy, which later became Continuum Energy and CenterPoint Energy. At the time of her retirement from CenterPoint in April 2018. She served the company as a Commercial Pricing Specialist.
In her recreational life, Carrie enjoyed riding dirt bikes, bowling, was a passionate fan of the Tulsa Drillers, and contributed innumerable correct answers during trivia nights at venues around Tulsa. She seemed to find her “retirement roots'' in a group called the Tulsa Newcomers Club and in addition to their routine meetings and outings, she joined smaller groups weekly to play cards and mahjong. Carrie was a card player extraordinaire. She held a special fondness for these women. She cherished spending time with friends and family by the pool or at her lake condo at Grand Lake, soaking up the sun and laughter with friends and family.
Carrie had a love for travel and enjoyed many trips with her friends and family. Carrie had great love for her Tulsa friends who she shared a special bond within their decade's long friendships Amy, Alana, Mandy, Cindy, Tracey, Tammy, the John Greene family and many others from the Tulsa area.
Although Carrie never had children of her own, she treated her nieces and nephew as if they were her own kids. Carrie loved her nephew Shawn and three nieces, Ashley, Lauren and Rachel with her whole heart and had truly special connections with them. Upon their graduations from high school, she took each on a celebratory trip before they entered college. Their individual interests determined the destinations. In true Aunt Carrie fashion, the sky was the limit. She took them from professional baseball stadiums to Broadway and from beaches to Boston. As her nieces and nephew later married and began young families of their own, her special Aunt Carrie brand of love extended to their children.
She is survived by her devoted brother, Keith Lindsay, and his wife, Lynn Lindsay, who shared a deep bond with her throughout her life. Her nephew Shawn Lindsay and wife Melody, niece Ashley Kellington and husband Tony, niece Lauren Lindsay and wife Jennifer, and niece Rachel Turbyfill and husband Craig, and many great-nephews and great-nieces that she adored. Carrie is also survived by members of the Ellis family, especially her cousin Robin, the extended Lindsay family, especially Lee, the loving Nash family including Lynde, Julie, Aunt Della and Uncle Lynn, the Frye, Jackson and Ford, family notably Aunt Nelda, Lee Ann and Tim, and Mike Ford. Carrie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Don Lindsay, Carol and Delmas Ford Jr, and brother Alan Ford. Grandparents Burr and Dorothy Lindsay, Lloyd and Cuby McNinch, Delmas Sr and Winifred Ford. Although they left this world before her, we find solace in knowing that she is now reunited with them.
Tulsa loved Carrie and Carrie loved Tulsa back. Carrie had a rare ability to bring people together and create lasting memories. She had a zest for life and a laugh that was contagious. She embraced every moment with enthusiasm and radiated joy wherever she went. Carrie's departure leaves a void in the hearts of her friends and family that can never be filled. Her spirit and passion for life will be remembered and cherished forever.
